Paediatric Oncologist, GNCH and MRC Clinician Scientist Newcastle University (Newcastle upon Tyne)

MRC Clinician Scientist and Honorary Consultant in Paediatric Oncology at Newcastle University and the Great North Children’s Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne.  Rebecca undertook her medical training (MB BCh) at the University of Wales College of Medicine and postgraduate training (MRCPCH) in South Wales and the North East of England.  Following her move to Newcastle upon Tyne (2007) she has developed an academic career which focuses predominantly on understanding the biological mechanisms of disease relapse in childhood medulloblastoma.  This was the subject of her PhD (2015, Doctoral Thesis Prize and European Society for Paediatric Oncology Merit Award) and she is now the main author of the current Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group UK interim guidelines for recurrent medulloblastoma and is jointly leading the European Society for Paediatric Oncology relapsed medulloblastoma focus group.
